Girl Meets Dress is a new exciting way for ladies to get hold of luxury dresses for a fraction of the price. They were the first of their kind in fashion rental, and are now considered pioneers of their industry. Boasting over 4,000 different dresses from 150 international designer brands, the team take spoilt for choice to a new level.
I was lucky enough to have a conversation with co-founder Anna Bance about what her business does, how it works and what makes them different.
What does the business do?
Girl Meets Dress is a disruptive eCommerce business with a mission to democratize luxury – believing that everybody deserves a Cinderella experience. We provide millions of women the ability to rent designer dresses and accessories for a fraction of the retail price, allowing them to look and feel beautiful for all of their special occasions.
The idea of collaborative consumption is now making a big impact around the world, whether it is somewhere to stay (Airbnb) or a car (Whipcar) – and now designer clothing.
How does it work?
Renting a dress is very easy. Simply choose the dress you’d like to wear, select to hire the dress for 2 or 7 nights and process the order like any other online shop. We will then deliver the dress to you, at your home, at your office, wherever you want it! All you have to do is have fun in it and send it back with the pre-paid postage label when you’re done. Our prices start from just £29 and you can try on a few dresses because we refund for anything unsuitable.
Why people should use you?
A: We all have those pieces at the back of the wardrobe, bought for yet another wedding/party/job interview but then not worn more than once! Hiring a dress allows you to very easily wear more trend led, time-sensitive fashions, while continuing to invest only in those classic pieces which will stand the test of time.
What makes you different?
We give women access to their dream wardrobe – we have the largest selection of dresses and accessories from 200 designers from over 50 countries. 98% of our customers try a new brand they have never worn previously in their life. Many women will typically only have tried a few high end designer brands in their lifetime, if any. With rental, everything is suddenly affordable.
